I wrote Submarines as part of an independent study on electronic music at the University of Maine in Orono. After graduating, Renaissance, the female a cappella group of which I had been a part, decided to rearrange the song for voice and record it on their forthcoming album.

Now, many years after graduating, Renaissance has filtered into a new group of talented young women who recently performed Submarines at a Women Composers Concert in Minsky Recital Hall at UMaine.

I am deeply honored to have my work performed by this group and am humbled that it's been kept alive for so long. It is such a treat to see it evolve and be interpreted by different people each year.
